Alan has worked on mainframe computers, PC's, smartphones and tablets, and the various operating systems used by these devices. In recent years, he has focused on the use of Linux in a dual-boot (Linux / Windows) environment.

Alan's main computer interests include open-source and free software, programming, and website development and maintenance. He has been actively involved with the Ottawa PC User's Group for more than thirty years.

He is currently the Program Coordinator and a co-host of the club's weekly online question-and-answer sessions.
